About NANA

NANA Development Corporation manages a diverse portfolio of companies of which Qivliq is one.

NANA Development Corporation was formed in response to the congressional enactment of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). ANCSA was intended to resolve the long-standing issue of aboriginal land claims in Alaska and to create a mechanism for Alaska’s economic development, particularly in rural areas, by encouraging the formation of private corporations by the Alaska Native people in order to help guide and direct this development.

NANA’s 12,400 shareholders are Iñupiat, part of the Inuit, a circumpolar indigenous people. Our shareholders maintain cultural ties to the region their ancestors have inhabited for more than 10,000 years, relying on the land for their way of life and cultural expression. The NANA region, a vast and beautiful 38,000 square miles located in Northwest Alaska, has a population of 7,200 people living in 11 communities or villages.

Qivliq and its companies are greatly influenced by the wisdom and experiences of our Alaska Native owners. We make it our goal to live out the values of our shareholders. Those values include:

  • Honesty and Integrity Govern Our Activities
  • Commitments made will be fulfilled
  • Everyone will be treated with dignity and respect
